Around this time four years ago, I started to question my career choice. I excelled at organic chemistry and really liked it, so my path towards the pharmaceutical industry seemed like a logical choice. However…
I still felt like something was missing, like chemistry didn’t quite fill every nook and cranny of my soul. After lots of discussions with my family, I realized baking filled that empty void, through giving sweet treats to my friends and neighbors and sharing the recipes here on my blog with you.
So a few months later, I took a leap of faith and left the chemistry. Over the past few years, I’ve published a cookbook, developed 600+ new recipes to share with you, and turned Amy’s Healthy Baking into my full-time job.
But I couldn’t have done it without you! ♥
Your interest in my recipes and browsing around them on my blog, saving them on Pinterest and sharing the links on Facebook, posting pictures of your treats on Instagram and telling your family and friends where you found the recipes… Those little things have added up and allowed me to make this my full-time job. I’m incredibly grateful for what you’ve done for me!
So to say thank you, I’m putting the spotlight back on you today! Here are some of the recipes that you’ve tried and pictures that you’ve shared on Instagram. I truly appreciate each and every time you do that; it really means the world to me! ♥
If you’re interested in starting a blog too, I have a super easy step-by-step guide on how you can start your own blog here. It takes less than 30 minutes!
I can’t wait to see what you try next! ♥
Would you like to see your picture in my next Sunday Spotlight? Then share it with me on Instagram using #amyshealthybaking and tag @amyshealthybaking IN the photo itself. (That guarantees I’ll see your picture! ?) I can’t wait to see what recipes you make!
Oh boy I’m grinning from ear to ear!! My picture looks adorable!! Thank you for posting!! I’m quite proud of the cookies❤️ I didn’t realize after I took the picture, I had placed the canister on top of the sugar cookie recipe. Lol
You’re welcome Michelle!! Your cookies were absolutely adorable! I noticed that little bit about the recipe in the background when I was proofreading the blog post… Such a cute touch! ♡
Thank you so much for featuring my image in this week’s Sunday Spotlight Amy!! 🙂 I’m happy to report that the bread was a HUGE hit!! It was absolutely delicious topped with some Trader Joe’s Cookie Butter too…;)
You’re welcome Marina!! I’m so glad everyone loved it! And oh my goodness, I definitely need to get my hands on some of TJ’s cookie butter… That sounds like a phenomenal combo!!
I always love seeing these round-ups, and I’m so happy that you found a career you love. Currently, I’m doing computer science. I’m defaulting to becoming a software engineer, but it’d be nice to find something more fulfilling.
Thank you so much Elaine! Computer science and software engineering is such a difficult area — good for you! And if it’s what you’re leaning towards, I’m sure you’ll find a way to use those skills you’ve developed to create a career that’s a little more fulfilling. I still use the same tips and tricks I picked up in the organic chemistry lab when testing recipes in my own kitchen for my blog, and I still have weekly “group meetings” (with only myself!) where I go over what I’m planning on doing in the upcoming weeks, just like we did in my organic chemistry group. 🙂
You are a breath of fresh air, your readers did you proud with their baking this week. Happy holidays to you and your family xoxo
You’re always such a sweetheart Beverley — thank you so much!! That means the world to me! ♡♡
Amy!
Congrats! I feel like you did he right thing. Cooking to me means life and family. Being son of italian people, I understand the power of getting home, friday night after college, 11pm and smelling bread recently baked. I wish I had half of the courage you had to change career. I thought of the same thing 15 years ago and have had not the push to do it. So, Congrats Amy!
I enjoy your recipes and photos very much!!!! I don’t cook much though since I suffer from a condition that prevents me from having sweets and stuff. Still I keep reading you!
Cheers! Merry XMAS and Happiness!
Alex.
Thank you so much Alex! Your kind comment means the world to me. While I’m not of Italian heritage, I can really appreciate how special that feeling must be — your family and their cooking sounds wonderful! 🙂 It’s never too late to chase a dream and do what you love, so I hope you’ll take a moment to reconsider. Our passions and excitement over those special things in our lives often carry us through situations we often imagined would be much harder, yet we come out on the other side feeling so much happier!
