This healthy apple pie smoothie tastes just like its namesake! Sweet fruit, warm cinnamon… And it’s thick, creamy, and so refreshing. This recipe is easily doubled to serve more too!
Add everything to a blender in the order listed, and pulse until smooth. Drink immediately.
Notes
IMPORTANT FLAVOR NOTES – READ BEFORE BEGINNING: This drink is meant to be a breakfast-style smoothie, so it isn’t overly sweet. For a sweeter smoothie, add your favorite sweetener to taste (such as liquid stevia, powdered stevia, granulated stevia, granulated sucralose, confectioners' style monk fruit, confectioners’ style erythritol, coconut sugar, and even granulated or powdered sugar).Just keep in mind that most liquid sweeteners (like honey, pure maple syrup, and agave) will make the smoothie thinner and runnier. (Although you can add more ice to help compensate!)You can easily adjust the amount of cinnamon to suit your tastes! I love Saigon cinnamon because it tastes a bit stronger, richer, and sweeter. If you’re a big cinnamon fan, I highly recommend it!APPLESAUCE TIPS + ALTERNATIVE: I like to use these snack size cups. One of these snack cups is almost ½ cup — just about a teaspoon or two shy — and that’s good enough for me. Don’t feel like you need open another one just for that last little bit!Use regular unsweetened applesauce — not Granny smith unsweetened applesauce! The latter is much tarter, so your smoothie won't taste sweet like apple pie.If you can't find regular unsweetened applesauce, sweetened applesauce may be substituted instead.MILK ALTERNATIVES: Almost any milk (1%, 2%, whole, dairy-free, etc) may be substituted in place of the nonfat milk.DAIRY-FREE + VEGAN OPTION: Substitute your favorite dairy-free milk for the nonfat milk.TOPPING TIP: For a fun treat, top with my healthy homemade cinnamon whipped cream!{gluten-free, vegan option, dairy-free option, egg-free, nut-free, clean eating, low fat, no added sugar}
