1. Buttermilk Pie
At least twice a week, I plan my afternoon walk so I pass by my friend’s house to drop off goodies I’ve baked for blog posts. Previously, her son handed me his beloved bartering Halloween candy bars, and this week, her 11-year-old daughter sent me home with a big slice of buttermilk pie she baked entirely by herself, despite her fears of the hot oven. My heart glowed all the way home.
2. Toffee Coffee Cookies
Her daughter packed the pie in a Tupperware that originally contained a dozen of my Toffee Coffee Cookies. My friend’s husband adores those two flavors—they’re his all-time favorites!—so after receiving his request, I promptly baked and delivered a batch. As he bit into the first one, he responded, “I could eat a lot of these.” Basically the highest praise a baking blogger could ask for!
3. Raindrops Keep Quit Fallin’ On My Head
The gloomy fall rain appeared this week. I dread running in the downpours because I lose circulation in my fingers, toes, and nose rather easily, but the clouds contained their moisture during the entire hour I jogged around town Tuesday morning. Hooray for small miracles!
4. Fuzzy Slippers
If you ever visited my house, you’d think someone superglued slippers to my feet (especially on chilly rainy days). I shuffle around all day in my fuzzy red ones, only removing them for showers and sleeping. To my surprise, my close friend posted a picture on Instagram this week of the same ones—just in green with slightly different stitching!
5. Apple Cinnamon Beet Cake
I discovered Brittany’s blog several years ago when I was a new “no-name” blogger, and I read nearly every one of her posts holding my sides in laughter. With her refreshing and witty outlook on life, I eagerly await and savor her articles. After she recently published her recipe for an Apple Cinnamon Beet Cake, I wanted to stab my fork through the computer screen for a bite. So moist… So sweet… So good!
6. Date Night: Wings Style
My guy and I greatly differ in our approach to food. I enjoy healthy home-cooked meals, and he… Doesn’t. He prefers fast food, especially burgers and fried chicken, both entrées I generally avoid. We finally found a perfect compromise for date night at Buffalo Wild Wings: I ordered their “Naked Tenders” (aka grilled chicken tenderloins) with a side salad, and he opted for the regular Fried Chicken Tenders with thick wedge-cut fries. (I stole a couple of those… I always save room for fries!)
7. GF Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies
After spotting these gorgeous cookies on Foodgawker, I clicked over to browse through the recipe. Clare of Calm Mind Busy Body created one of the healthiest versions of Chocolate Chip Cookies you’ll ever find. Just wait until you read about her first two shocking ingredients!
8. Dreyer’s Eggnog Ice Cream
Once the rain disappeared, the wind wandered into town. At 20 mph. With such forceful gusts, my footprints on my walks always veer a little toward the left or right. It’s practically impossible to stay in a straight line! Although my fingers turned white and numb from the cold outside, I still bought ice cream at the grocery store because (a) I can’t resist a 50% off sale and (b) I’ve never tried eggnog before. Typical crazy Amy!
9. Maple Bacon Breakfast Cheesecakes
With the holidays quickly approaching and friends and family flying in to visit, these Maple Bacon Breakfast Cheesecakes are the easiest gourmet meal to make them! They’re gluten-free, low in fat, high in protein, and 100% guaranteed to satisfy even the staunchest of healthy-food-haters.
10. Organizing Your Day
In an effort to stop squandering my time and start achieving more, I checked out this book titled “Organizing Your Day” from the city library. Before I even closed the back cover, I already began implementing multiple techniques, including scheduling activities for each day’s hours the night before to stay on task and setting aside more “me” time to rejuvenate. Once I master those, I’m moving on to reorganizing my tiny cluttered kitchen!

AWW, AMY! I feel so honored to be featured in this post, you are SO sweet!!! I must try those cookies too ohh my gosh. Basically I just need to live in your kitchen and try ALL things you make and I will always say, “these are the best EVER!”
Amy says...
You’re welcome Brittany! After all of the times you’ve made me smile and laugh, it was the least I could do. 🙂 And YES PLEASE come live in my kitchen!! We’ll bake cookies and cupcakes and brownies and bread and bagels and scones all day long. And be the happiest people alive.

Your husband sounds like he likes to eat like my husband does… My husband loves BWW, so that’s great to know that they have the naked tenders option. I used to get the black bean burger, but since I’m doing more of a Paleo thing now that doesn’t really work. My husband loves the wings and whenever he gets celery & carrot sticks w/them, you know who eats those – me! 😉 Plus, I do steal a few fries too.

The naked tenders sound perfect for you, Karey! I’m not sure how many of the hot sauces qualify as Paleo, but there’s always the dry rub options. Stealing your husband’s veggies sounds perfect — I’d do that with my guy too! 😉 Hopefully you can go back to BWW soon!

yay for matching slippers!! Too funny. What did you think of the eggnog ice-cream?
Amy says...
I know!! We’re absolutely hilarious. We must share the same mind… Or at least the same brainwaves. 😉 I liked the eggnog ice cream. I still haven’t had regular eggnog before (that’s going to change in the next week or two), but I liked the subtle spice and the nutmeg! Totally worth all $3 I spent. (It’s still on sale at Safeway through Thanksgiving!)
