The older I get, the more I feel like life constantly speeds along on fast forward. Didn’t 2025 just start? How is it already June?? Where did all of the days and weeks and months go???
I could really use a pause button in life… Or at least a way to slow things down. So much has happened, especially in the past few months, and I’d love to stop and catch my breath before summer flies by in the blink of an eye!
But until someone brilliant figures out how to do that, perhaps the next best thing is taking a few moments to simply sit and chat. Trading stories, sharing highlights, talking about what’s been going on behind the scenes… And maybe, just maybe, avoid the massive mountain of baking dishes currently piled up in my sink.
So pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea — or even water, if that’s what you’re craving! — and pretend like we’re sitting across from each other at the local coffee shop and catching up. If we were, these are the four pieces of fun news that I’d share…
LOCKS OF LOVE
Two years ago, while driving home from the salon, I thought it was the last time. Five seemed like a round number and good place to stop. But then… My hair grew faster, longer, and healthier than I expected, which led to Locks of Love haircut #6 this spring!
I originally wanted to wait until I could see my usual stylist. Upon realizing that wouldn’t happen until August at the earliest, I called another shop. They offered to squeeze me in that same afternoon, so I hopped in my car and headed over before I had time to chicken out.
An hour later, I walked out with a very long ponytail in a zip-topped bag and a smile. I felt lighter — literally and figuratively!
Although completely unintentional, I seem to be on a Locks of Love biannual donation plan. 2019, 2021, 2023, and now… 2025. (Plus my very first one in middle school and the second in high school!)
I think this truly is the last time I donate my hair, but seeing as I said that two years ago… I know better than to make any promises!
Quick Tip: If anyone you know is planning on doing a haircut for Locks of Love, I’ve learned to expect that my hair will end up 2 to 3 inches shorter than I originally planned. Part of that is from cleaning up and evening out the ends after the initial cut, and part is because my hair naturally “shrinks” as it dries. (It’s not completely stick-straight and flat!) Cutting off 10+ inches of hair can be an emotional experience, if my full range of excitement and joy to elephant tears and despair after some of these haircuts are any indication, so reminding myself that it’ll likely end up shorter before leaving for the salon has come in handy!
Also… Bring a ruler, hair ties, and a plastic bag. It always helps to be prepared!
DISNEYLAND
My mom and I rediscovered our love for the Happiest Place on Earth a little while ago, so we booked another trip this spring. It ended up feeling more like the unofficial kick off to summer… Temperatures reached nearly 90°F during our mini vacation!
We split our days between Disneyland and California Adventure, and we checked off almost all of our favorite rides (plus even more!). Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, the Incredicoaster, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Silly Symphony Swings, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree, the Mad Tea Party…

Hi Amy! You’ve had a pretty exciting spring…I really enjoyed hearing all about your adventures. You should write these sort of posts more often, even if it’s just about normal daily/weekly routine stuff. Anyway, wanted to let you know I loved reading about it all!
You’re so sweet, Cathy! I truly appreciate your kind words. I love writing and sharing these posts, so it really means a lot that you enjoy them as well! ♡
We’ll see what the future holds… Hopefully a few more of these sprinkled throughout my new recipes! 😉
What a fun update Amy! Your hair cut is SO cute! That is incredible how many times you have donated. I love it!!!
And I agree, life just speeds by and I am also hoping summer doesn’t pass too quickly. I always enjoy reading your updates and am happy to see you well and enjoying all your favorite things! Sending hugs my friend. xo
So wonderful, love all your photos.
Thanks for sharing!! ❤️ 🤗
You’re so kind! That means the world to me. Thank you, Catherine!! ♡
Thank you, Ashley!! You’re always such a sweetheart. I miss you and our in-person catch-up dates! ♡
With how crazy life has been this year, I’ve fallen behind on reading people’s blogs… I can’t believe you celebrated your second’s SIXTH birthday and your third’s FOURTH!! Where did the time go??? It feels like just a few months ago that we met up for that beach day. I loved seeing the photos from your parties, and your tradition of birthday donuts is such a sweet touch!
I hope you and your family have a lovely summer! Sending you the biggest hugs right back!
Thank you so much for sharing your photos and your fun experiences, it was really lovely. Beautiful memories 💝🥰⚘️
You’re so sweet, Annie! It’s my pleasure, and I’m honored by your kind words. ♡ I feel really lucky to have shared these experiences and made these special memories with my loved ones!
Hi Amy,
Looks like your year is off to a great start! Disneyland looks like an exciting trip – and all the treats they have look amazing – I couldn’t pick just one 😉 Also, I’m always looking for a good book to read so I’ll have to check out the authors you’ve recommended!
Here’s to another exciting 6 months for 2025!
♡ Megan
You’re always such a sweetheart, Megan! Thank you so much. Your kind words truly mean the world to me! ♡♡♡
Summer feels like the perfect time for reading good books, so if you have any recommendations of your own, I’m all ears! I wish I could’ve sampled even more of the Disneyland treats. I’m right there with you… It’s virtually impossible to just pick one — or even stop at two! 😉
I hope your summer is filled with lots of sunshine, fun hikes, sweet treats, and so much joy! Sending the biggest hugs your way!
Your photos are AMAZING. I am longing for a trip to Disney (you already know), and these photos just make it 10x worse!! I am in awe of your mom for enjoying and spinning on the teacups. I realized once I hit 30 I struggled with the intense rides (I still do them), and I can only imagine how much worse my head would throb at 36. 🤣
Your haircut is adorable. After all our hair talk on my blog recently I’m glad you had a good experience with someone who wasn’t your tried and true. Sometimes I think about letting mine grow for one donation, and then going back to a pixie. LOL. Time will tell.
I’m not a big sports person, but I did always enjoy going to Mariners games growing up. Something about being in the stadium made the sport more fun to watch. Not to mention the snacks.
I love that your reading floodgates reopened! Mine did as well in late 2023. I became obsessed with reading again. I started using Goodreads to keep track of books I wanted to read/did read and I ended up reading 75 books last year. I’m on book 32 for this year! I like a good fiction read, but I also enjoy non fiction if it’s psychology or science. Those I have started listening to as audiobooks. It feels sort of like a podcast. Hooray for books!
Whenever you’re ready for a Disneyland trip, just say the word and I’m happy to meet you there!!! I know it might be a bit, thanks to our adorable fur babies, but eventually… We’ll make it happen. Maybe even during the fall and Halloween season??? A lot of people say Christmas is the best and most magical time to go… So I may be the outlier here, but I think fall at Disneyland is my favorite time of the year! The decorations and food are incredible during those months. (And we can skip all of the intense rides that make your head throb. I promise!)
Thank you!! You’re too sweet. ♡ If you can stand letting it grow, it’d be fun to see your hair long again! After how long mine was right before I chopped it, I completely understand the allure of keeping it short though… So no pressure! 😉
Oh my gosh — I loved the Mariners’ stadium! I’ve only been once (in 2005), but I’d love to make it back. It was one of our more memorable weekend getaway baseball trips! Speaking of snacks… It was also the only stadium that included a couple of fresh apple slices with their fries. They were the same color, a nice golden hue, so my dad accidentally salted them too. I didn’t realize until I bit into the first one…
WOW!!! That’s incredible — and something to aspire to! I love hearing about your Little Free Library finds (and bicycle trips to them!), and that’s such a great idea about listening to nonfiction as audiobooks. You know me and science… 😉
Sending you and Little big hugs!! ♡
Wonderful post
Thank you so much! 🙂
