On Sunday, I lived in a nursery rhyme. Just like in “The Three Little Pigs,” the Big Bad Wolf huffed and puffed and threatened to blow my house down. Because my home isn’t make of sticks or straw, it managed to stay standing, but all of that wind left me cold, chilly, and in desperate need of some comfort food.
And what better comfort food than grilled cheese? Hot, gooey, and delicious, it always leaves me feeling happy inside. But this isn’t just any grilled cheese; it has three kinds of cheese for three times the comfort!
Three-Cheese Grilled Cheese Sandwich
serves 1
Substitute any of your favorite cheeses to make this your all-time favorite sandwich. Either a small convection toaster, a skillet, or a Panini press can be used for cooking.
2 slices of bread
1 slice mozzarella
½ tbsp grated Parmesan
½ tbsp grated asiago
- Preheat the Panini press (or skillet or toaster). If desired, butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer the mozzarella on one bread slice, then sprinkle the Parmesan and asiago on top. Lay second bread slice over the cheese.
- Cook sandwich until bread is toasted and cheese melts. (If using a skillet on the stove, sandwich will need to be flipped halfway through.) Serve immediately.
This is my GO-TO food.. My husband gets “angry” with me when I order this off a menu when we are out to eat… I figure it will provide guarantee satisfaction!!
One of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I’ve ever eaten was from a local burger joint. My friends look at me like I’m crazy when I don’t order a cheeseburger, but at least I’m always happy with my meal and never have to deal with overdone meat!
Are you using a regular “whole wheat/multi=grain” bread for you example? While I do like this, sometimes I would like a regular Panini bread. However, this is often hard to find. Any chain stocking it that you know of?
Yes, I did use a whole-wheat bread. Now that I’m training for a running race, I’m trying to stick to whole grains, so I haven’t been on the look-out for a Panini bread. Trader Joe’s might have something like what you’re looking for though!
