Every Tuesday night, an ice cream parlor in our town hosts a “Dollar Scoop Night.” Although generally ignored during the winter, the line snakes out the door and weaves around the outdoor patio during the warmer months. During the summer, I beg my guy to go almost every week!  

 

As we wait our turn, I always turn to him and ask, “Are you getting anything?” Most weeks, he shakes his head and just patiently waits with me. Sometimes he orders a scoop of fruity sorbet, but the majority of the time, he walks out empty-handed because he’s lactose intolerant.
