Because I start every morning with fresh fruit (usually bananas—I must be part monkey because I love them so much!), I wanted to finish off our family brunch with something sweet. This Chili-Spiced Fruit Salsa sounded like the perfect thing!
I chose 3 different juicy fruits—strawberries, pineapple, and honeydew—all of a different color to really brighten up our plates. Tossed with a bit of the chili seasoning mix, just enough to taste but not so much to send you gulping down gallons of water, this light and lovely pairing provided the perfect refreshing bite. Even my two picky eaters loved it!
Tip: To make the salsa even easier and cheaper, buy canned pineapple in 100% juice. Just drain, rinse, and dice it a little smaller. Then you’re all set and ready to go!
I highly recommend making the fruit salsa the night before and refrigerating overnight. As it chills, the spices meld with the sweet fruit juices, bringing out the individual flavors even more and turning this side into a fruit-lover’s dream!
By the time we finished this Sweet ’n Spicy Brunch, everyone ended the morning with a big smile and full belly. People even playfully fought over the last few scones! With so few dishes to wash and almost no leftovers to put away, this brunch party was the most relaxed and fun I’ve ever hosted.
It just might turn into a tradition!
This sweet twist on salsa is such a refreshing side! It’s lovely served by itself, or pair it with cinnamon-sugar tortilla chips for an even sweeter treat.
- Add all of the ingredients to a bowl, and toss to evenly coat the fruit with the chili seasoning mix. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes, or until ready to serve.
