Last weekend, something horrific happened in Orlando. As articles and video coverage appeared in the news in the ensuing hours, the brutality and hatred of the shooting slowly sunk in… Yet at the same time, images rolled in of #PrayForOrlando banners flying all around the nation, candlelit memorials hosted by countless cities around the world, and 7-hour-long lines of people leading out of local Florida blood donation stations.
Photos depicting the exact opposite… Acts of kindness, compassion, and love.
As I thought about the event and its aftermath, it prompted me to post this picture on my personal Instagram account, and I truly believe that its caption is true now more than ever before.
So I’m starting with the people I hold near and dear to my heart… Which includes you. ♥
You have already shown me acts of genuine kindness and love. You’ve made my recipes, given the treats to your family and friends, and shared pictures of your goodies with me through emails, on Facebook, and on Instagram. In doing so, in sharing my website with those important people in your life, you’ve enabled me to turn Amy’s Healthy Baking into my full-time job, and I am incredibly grateful.
So to say thank you, I’m putting the spotlight back on you today. Here are some of the recipes that you’ve baked and pictures that you’ve shared on Instagram. I feel truly blessed each and every time you do that; it really means the world to me. ♥
In the upcoming week, let’s continue to add more sweetness, joy, and love to the world. Whether we start with our family or friends or complete strangers, whether it’s with a hug or a baked treat or a smile, whether it’s one brief moment or hours of quality time… Let’s just start. The world needs our love. ♥
Would you like to see your picture in my next Sunday Spotlight? Then share it with me on Instagram using #amyshealthybaking and tag @amyshealthybaking IN the photo itself. (That guarantees that I’ll see the notification from you! ?) I can’t wait to see what recipes you make!
The world sure could use all this sweetness!! These recreations turned out so great.
Thanks Brittany! You always add so much joy and sweetness to my day with your comments and blog posts of your own. ♥
Amy I am so thrilled that you included me along with these other lovely foodies’ baking. That week was one of the worst as we had one of our MP’s Members of Parliament shot by one of her constituents at such a young age leaving 2 young kids and a husband. It is so upsetting what’s going on in our world and never mind the politicians! I find baking a way of relaxing and escaping from everything around me. Thank you for writing this post and for all your blogs and recipes. Love ya lots xoxo
It’s my pleasure Beverly — I’m honored to include you! ♥ That sounds like just as terrible as an event in your part of the world… It’s awful what people can do, especially with a weapon in hand, but I’m really glad that you find baking relaxing and a way to escape. I’m the same way; baking puts me in such a happy mood. I love seeing all of your creations on Instagram!
I love seeing everybody’s interpretations of your recipes! It’s so fun how everyone has a unique style!
It’s really fun and rewarding for me too! I love seeing everyone’s pictures! 🙂
