This past summer, I sent out a survey that asked what you wanted to learn more about regarding healthy eating. When I read through the responses, I was surprised by the number of answers expressing a desire to find out what healthy eating really meant, how to balance exercise with a healthy diet, and how to avoid binging on sweet treats.
Those were the same questions I asked when I started down my path of healthy living 10+ years ago!
So over the past few months, I’ve been working behind the scenes to put together something new for you: a resource to help you live a healthier and happier life using the tips, tricks, and habits I’ve learned on my health journey.
WHAT IS IT?
The Healthy Jumpstart is a series of free monthly challenges designed to create long-lasting healthy habits that help you feel happier, love your body, and love your life!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each month, we focus on mastering one aspect of a healthy lifestyle through small daily challenges. At the beginning of the month, I’ll email you a free printable calendar with that month’s goal. (Sign up for those emails here!) On that month’s calendar, you’ll write down what you did each day to work towards completing that month’s goal.
For example… Because many of us fall off the bandwagon during the holiday season, January starts with 20+ minutes of daily exercise!
WHY DOES IT WORK?
The Healthy Jumpstart focuses on progress-based goals, rather than a specific end result. As I mentioned, January’s challenge is to exercise for 20+ minutes each day (a progress-based goal), instead of trying to lose 10 pounds (a specific end result). Compared to those who focus solely on the end result, people who focus on progress-based goals are much more likely to achieve them and see beneficial long-lasting results. Sounds great, right?
Furthermore, there’s so much information on the internet telling us to eat better, drink lots of water, exercise more, wake up earlier, consume less caffeine, meditate daily… Along with 27 other things to do to be healthy. In the past, I felt so overwhelmed by just reading those lists that I didn’t even start at all! And when I did try, I failed at one or two (or thirteen) of those things within a few days, so I just gave up altogether. Not good!
So that’s why we’re focusing on building one progress-based healthy habit each month. I want you to be as successful as possible in living a healthier, happier life!
