A few weeks ago while at a baseball game, Grandma and I started talking about the upcoming holiday season. We wondered whether my parents would want to host Thanksgiving and Christmas at their house in Northern California, or if they’d be open to spending either holiday in Southern California with Grandma and her adorable pups.
As we chatted, my mind spun into menu-planning mode… Specifically desserts… And especially pies. (No surprises there, I’m sure!) Thoughts of apple and pecan and pumpkin pies topped with whipped cream—or ice cream, even better!—swirled around my head as we watched the rest of the baseball game.
When we finally arrived back at home five hours later, I still couldn’t shake my resulting pie cravings… But since an easy cinnamon-spiced streusel sounded a bit better than rolling out homemade pie dough, I ended up baking this instead…
The Ultimate Healthy Apple Crumble! Juicy apples with a crumb topping and baked to tender perfection. My entire house smelled absolutely irresistible, just like cozy cinnamon, and this dessert tasted even better!
And you’d never guess it by how delicious this crumble tastes but… It has a full serving of fruit, no refined flour or sugar, and just 116 calories! Which basically makes it healthy enough for breakfast in my book!
