Just before Halloween, I elbowed my way through last-minute shoppers on the candy aisle at Walmart. Pausing in front of the large mixed packages with 3 or 4 different types of sweets, I sighed aloud. None of them, not a single one, included miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups!
Dejected, I went with the next best thing: a bag of Rolos, Kit Kats, and Reese’s Pieces. But those Reese’s Pieces just aren’t the same… I can’t nibble off all of the chocolate and let it melt on my tongue before biting into the peanut butter, not with that thin candy coating shell instead!
On the long drive home, I ripped open one of the fun-sized packages and popped a candy into my mouth. As it dissolved, I realized Reese’s Pieces might not be the same—they might be better! With a greater peanut-butter-to-chocolate ratio, they disappeared before any trick-or-treaters even rang the doorbell… And I’ve been dreaming up different peanut butter and chocolate concoctions ever since!
For a sweeter and nuttier breakfast, use the larger amounts of sugar and peanut butter. For peanut allergies, substitute almond or cashew butter instead.
- Combine the oats, water, cocoa, and sugar in a medium bowl. Cook according to the oatmeal container’s directions. Stir in the peanut butter after cooking, and let the oatmeal sit and thicken for 1-2 min before eating.

Where are the nutrition facts on this? This looks absolutely amazing. I just might have this for breakfast in the morning! Depending on how much fat is in it since I am on a low fat diet 🙂

Thanks Maddy! I just added the Nutrition Information in a link below the recipe. If you need to reduce the fat, you can also substitute an equal amount of PB2 (powdered peanut butter) and add it along with the cocoa powder. I hope you enjoy it! 🙂
