My family celebrates just about anything with brunch. Birthdays, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, school graduations, anniversaries (even blogging ones!), promotions, new jobs, and more. You name it, and I guarantee we’ll eat brunch for it!
We usually try to drive over an hour to our favorite brunch restaurant, where they serve the best blueberry coffee cake that you’ll ever eat. Sky-high, towering slices of tender sour cream cake packed full of sweet, juicy blueberries with a thick layer of cinnamon sugar streusel on top. With a little bit of melted butter (or a lot, if you’re my parents) spread across the top, that coffee cake is pure bliss. The sole reason I exist. (Only a slight exaggeration.)
But on the days where we don’t quite have enough time to trek out that far, or the mainstream holidays where restaurants are packed with patrons, we serve brunch at home. Sometimes it’s a simple meal of eggs, bacon, and fresh fruit, but most of the time, I bring a platter of baked goodies to add to the menu.
