I joined Snapchat shortly before I flew to Chicago for this food blogging conference last fall, and I started following Kristen from Dine and Dish about a week before my trip. I immediately fell in love with her weekday “Coffee Talk” snaps, and whenever I replied to what she shared, she quickly typed out a response back.
When I posted a Snap on my own account the following week, asking for recommendations of things to do in Chicago, Kristen suggested a boat tour on the Chicago River. That afternoon, I purchased a ticket from Wendella Boats (I highly recommend them!), chose a seat towards the front of the boat on the upper outdoor deck, and settled in for the two-hour tour.
Everyone else on the boat came with at least one other person—a friend, a spouse, or their entire family—but I actually loved being the only “single rider.” I devoted my entire attention to the tour guide’s stories and jokes, snapping the shutter on my DSLR camera as often as I pleased, and enjoyed every minute of the cruise… Even when it started drizzling!
Without Kristen’s Snapchat suggestion, my trip to Chicago wouldn’t have been nearly as special or memorable, and that’s what I really appreciate about the internet and social media: they have the power to bring people together, put smiles on our faces, brighten our days, and even change our lives.
Using the internet and social media, that’s exactly what you’ve done for me!
My heart fills with joy when you stop by my blog, try my recipes, leave comments on my blog posts, and share your pictures of those treats with me on Facebook and Instagram. Not only that, but those small actions of yours have enabled me to turn Amy’s Healthy Baking into my full-time job!
Crazy, isn’t it? How your stumbling across my blog while searching for recipes online and making some of my treats has allowed me to quit my previous job and blog full-time? It still feels like a dream, and I’m incredibly grateful!
So to say thank you, I’m putting the spotlight back on you today! Here are some of the recipes that you’ve tried and pictures that you’ve shared on Instagram. I truly appreciate each and every time you do that; it really means the world to me! ♥
If you’re interested in starting a blog too, I have a super easy step-by-step guide on how you can start your own blog here. It takes less than 30 minutes!
I can’t wait to see what you try next! ♥
Would you like to see your picture in my next Sunday Spotlight? Then share it with me on Instagram using #amyshealthybaking and tag @amyshealthybaking IN the photo itself. (That guarantees I’ll see your picture! ?) I can’t wait to see what recipes you make!
