At the spur-of-the-moment baseball game I attended last week with a big group of people, I ended up sitting in between my friend and her husbandâs brother, whom everyone calls âUncle M.â When my friend left to catch up with a few other families in different sections partway through the game, Uncle M and I started chatting.
Thatâs one of the things I love about baseball⌠The small amount of downtime in between each pitch and play basically encourages conversation and makes baseball games much more social than the action-packed, almost nonstop activity of other sports like basketball and hockey. And most baseball fans are such nice people to talk to!
During the next three innings, Uncle M and I chatted about his upcoming business trip to Germany, his sonâs visit to the ER for a broken arm just two days earlier, and some of the players on our favorite baseball team. At the end of that inning, Uncle M whipped out his iPhone, pulled up Safari, and asked me to show him around my blog.
He scrolled through my most recent blog posts, admired my Healthier Chocolate Treats cookbook, and pointed out almost a dozen different recipes to his baking-obsessed daughter, who sat on his other side, that he thought sheâd want to try. As the next batter approached home plate and the game resumed, he set up a special bookmark for my blog on his phone.
I thought my heart was going to burst right out of my chest⌠Wasnât that sweet??
Itâs little actions like that, of simply browsing my recipes and showing them to others, whether on Pinterest or Facebook or Instagram or in emails, that mean so much to me, and I feel so blessed that you already do that for me every day! Those little actions have added up, and they have allowed me to turn my blog into my full-time job. I am so grateful for you for doing that for me!
So to say thank you, Iâm putting the spotlight back on you today! Here are some of the recipes that youâve tried and pictures that youâve shared on Instagram. I truly appreciate each and every time you do that; it really means the world to me! âĽ

That is so awesome that you were able to make it to a Giants game last week, Amy!! I you probably heard the terribly sad news today from Miami. Thank you for sharing another delicious treat here and have a great upcoming week! đ
Thanks Mike! I was absolutely shocked by the news from earlier today, but it’s been really touching to see all of the teams around the league honoring him in their games today. Although it’s a huge tragedy, it’s still uplifting to know that players’ friendship and respect matters much more than their team rivalries. I hope you have a good week as well!
