Last week, I received a text from my aunt (a fairly rare occurrence!), which asked if I had a copy of her father’s Cowboy Coffee Cake recipe. I wrote back that I did not, but I knew it came from one of his cookbooks since I had baked it for Christmas during my senior year of high school while visiting him in the hospital in Arizona.
She responded, explaining that she had made my lightened-up version that I published in 2013, and now her son wanted to compare mine to Grandpa’s original recipe. After a quick phone call with Grandpa, I replied to my aunt in another text, “It’s in his Good Housekeeping Cookbook from about 50 years ago!”
I absolutely love that about recipes. They bring people together: sometimes across three states, like on that afternoon, and other times around the world, like right now and wherever you are, reading my blog.
And that’s actually my favorite part of baking! It isn’t eating the treats once I’ve pulled them from the oven… And it definitely isn’t washing the dishes… It’s the process of creating something from nothing, sharing that with family and friends, and experiencing your excitement as you enjoy those baked goodies.
That’s why every response you post on my blog, every comment you leave on Facebook, and every picture you share on Instagram brings a huge smile to my face and warms my heart. It means so much to me that you not only make my recipes, but you also take the time to tell me how they turned out and what your family and friends thought of them, too.
So to say thank you, I’m putting the spotlight back on you today! Here are some of the recipes that you’ve tried and pictures that you’ve shared on Instagram. I truly appreciate each and every time you do that; it really means the world to me! ♥
If you’re interested in starting a blog too, I have an easy step-by-step guide on how you can start your own blog here. (And it takes less than 30 minutes!)
I can’t wait to see what you try next! ♥
Would you like to see your picture in my next Sunday Spotlight? Then share it with me on Instagram using #amyshealthybaking and tag @amyshealthybaking IN the photo itself. (That guarantees I’ll see your picture! ?) I can’t wait to see what recipes you make!
