My elementary school sat right around the corner from a mainstream grocery store, and every once in a while during the holiday season, Mom let us stop by on our way home to pick up a package of sugar cookies from their bakery. We eagerly held the plastic container while waiting in the check-out line, staring at the snowman- and gingerbread man-shaped treats covered in coarse red sugar sprinkles, excited to bite into one at the kitchen table a few minutes later before starting our spelling homework.
At that age, I thought that gingerbread men cookies, those bakery-style sugar cookies, and Grandma’s special extra soft and slightly cakey sugar cookies topped with red and green sanding sugar were the only “traditional” holiday cookies. But as I grew older, I learned about many more varieties… And realized just how much I was missing out on as a little girl!
So today, I’ve rounded up some of my favorites, from the completely traditional to the more creative flavors, into this list of my 13 Must Try Clean-Eating Holiday Cookie Recipes. I can’t wait to hear which cookies you try!

You forgot your eggnog cookies! I made a batch and they are gone already. I making another one tomorrow! Thank you for sharing great healthy treats!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the eggnog cookies Martha! That means a lot to me! 🙂
One other thing I did that made them more indulgent…I had a bit of leftover melted chocolate/coconut oil in a bowl, so I warmed it up and dipped half of the egg nog cookies in and let it harden. It gave it that half dunked appearance 🙂 Can’t wait to try your other creations!!
That sounds absolutely delicious Martha! Such a great idea! 🙂 I’m so excited to hear what recipe you try next!
pretty sure it will be the triple chocolate peppermint cookies!
Sounds perfect! They’re a huge favorite around here! 😉
Oh my gosh I’ve only made 3 out of the 13 recipes on this list! I clearly have some catching up to do! 😉
Good thing your final is just two days away! That leaves 4 days of baking and 9 recipes… Only 2 ish recipes per day. You can totally do that! 😉 😉
NO more cookies for me, I’ve had one too many. BUT I do love the refined sugar free idea.
Thanks Brittany! I’ll just have to freeze some for you for when you start eating sugar again. 😉
