For a long period of time during my adult life, I cooked a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast nearly every day (and sometimes as a mid-afternoon or pre-bedtime snack too!). I stirred in a dash of sweetener along with a generous amount of cinnamon, and each spoonful of those hot bowls of oatmeal felt so warm and cozy.
But eventually, I got a little bored with eating the same breakfast every day, even when I tried mixing in different spices or cocoa powder for a chocolaty treat. I loved starting my day out on such a healthy note, but I really wanted to enjoy what I consumed, not feel apathetic and think about what I planned to indulge in for dessert later that day.
One day, a brilliant idea popped into my head. “What if I mix the oats into something else so they taste more exciting again?”
I tried it and…
I fell in love all with my morning oats over again! So here are some of my favorites, 19 Easy and Healthy Oatmeal Breakfast Recipes! They all taste amazing, even with no refined flour or sugar, and are simple to make. (No mixer required for any of them!)

Amy, I love a half serving of hot oatmeal about once a week as a bedtime snack too!. So good and warming, I have made a lot of those oatmeal recipes you listed! Did you know I love oatmeal? 🙂 Have you ever thought about writing a recipe for baked oatmeal that can be frozen in single serving size? It’s a go to for me and I would love to see how you would make a good and healthy baked oatmeal.
Merry Christmas!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying many of these recipes Susan! That means so much to me!! 🙂 That’s actually on my recipe to do list, so I’ll see what I can do! In the meantime, some of my granola bar bites recipes might fit the bill! Have you tried any of those yet?
I have tried about 4 of the granola bite recipes! They are all good. Favorite might be the pumpkin spice one or else the chocolate bites. So good and they may make a nice little dessert! Just right with tea. 🙂
You’re so sweet Susan!! That makes me so happy to hear that you’re enjoying them! Thanks for taking the time to let me know! 🙂
All the recipes have wheat flour in it. Then why call it Oats …….
The recipe should just have oats as the main ingredient.
I really appreciate your interest in my recipes Amanda! All of these recipes include oats, which is why I’ve grouped them together and call them oatmeal breakfast recipes. For all of these recipes, I also provide a gluten-free option, if wheat flour is a concern for you. I’d love to hear what you think if you decide to try any of them! 🙂
Thank you for your reply Amy. Yes I am looking to try these wonderful items in just oats in them and no wheat flour or refined flour. Thank you.
It’s my pleasure Amanda! I’m always happy to help! 🙂 So excited to hear which of these recipes you decide to try first!
