This past week, I learned that one of my high school friends had been hit by a car while biking home in the city. Although the driver immediately took off, not bothering to check how badly he injured the cyclist, my friend somehow walked away without any broken bones or concussions, mainly suffering a few scrapes and a football-sized bruise.
What a blessing!
After hearing the story, I headed over to the post office the next day and handed over a box with a dozen of my freshly baked ultimate healthy oatmeal raisin cookies sealed inside to the lady behind the counter. Nothing helps heal bumps and bruises faster than a surprise package of homemade sweet treats, right?
As I watched the woman carry the box to the large stack in the back of the room waiting to be sorted, a small smile spread across my face…
…because I felt as if I were paying it forward. You give me sweet surprises every day—by trying my recipes and tagging me in pictures of them on Instagram and Facebook, by leaving me thoughtful comments here on my blog, by sharing my website with your family and friends—and with how much those things warm my heart, I wanted to continue spreading that happiness!
All of those actions of yours mean so much to me, and they have enabled me to turn my blog into my full-time job. It’s an absolute dream come true, and I’m incredibly grateful for what you’ve done for me!
So to say thank you, I’m putting the spotlight back on you today! Here are some of the recipes that you’ve tried and pictures that you’ve shared on Instagram. I truly appreciate each and every time you do that; it really means the world to me! ♥
If you’re interested in starting a blog too, I have an easy guide on how you can start your own blog here! (And it takes less than 30 minutes!)
I can’t wait to see what you try next! ♥
Would you like to see your picture in my next Sunday Spotlight? Then share it with me on Instagram using #amyshealthybaking and tag @amyshealthybaking IN the photo itself. (That guarantees I’ll see your picture! ?) I can’t wait to see what recipes you make!

I’m so glad your friend is okay – that’s a true miracle! It was lovely of you to send them some sweet treats, and I’m sure they were very touched by that!
That’s a wonderful thing about recipe blogs: being able to share recipes with others all over the world, as if giving them the sweet treat (except they’ve got to make it themselves).
It’s a lovely thought that all these people who are making your recipes are sharing the same food as what you first baked! Like the other day, when I made your pumpkin mug cake for example, it’s funny to think that even though I’m on the opposite side of the world, we were both eating and tasting the same food. It’s incredible how food can connect people around the world!☺

You’re such a sweetheart Katie!! ♥ Surprisingly enough, I hadn’t ever thought about that, how people on the opposite sides of the world will be eating and enjoying the same exact recipe… What a special way to think about it! I love that! 🙂

Hi Amy, I am so glad your friend wasn’t seriously injured by that careless driver! Thank goodness. I like how you mentioned paying it forward as that has been a life philosophy in my actions for most of my adult life. I also think it is really good karma 🙂 Have a great rest of your Sunday! 😉

Thanks Mike! It’s such a great philosophy and approach to life. 🙂
