On one of our final days in the hospital with Grandpa last week, the doctors transferred him to a different floor with staff that specialized in pain management. As soon as we wheeled in Grandpa’s bed, a new nurse popped in to meet us and better understand Grandpa’s needs.
Within an hour, she returned with stronger pain medicine from the pharmacy, and later that afternoon, she dropped off a “Comfort Cart” from the cafeteria with large canteens of coffee and hot water, a wide selection of regular and herbal tea bags, sweetener packets, creamers, mugs, straws, and a big platter of cookies. For the rest of the day, we nibbled and sipped while singing to Grandpa, sharing stories amongst ourselves, and appreciating every last moment.
Over this past week, after I shared last week’s Sunday Spotlight story, you have provided the equivalent of a virtual Comfort Cart for me. Your sweet words here, on Facebook, and on Instagram have been so thoughtful, and I truly appreciate them all. The pictures of my recipes that you’ve shared alongside your kind prayers and comments have also warmed my heart in a way that the original Comfort Cart’s coffee and tea could not as we said our final good-byes, and I’m so grateful for that.
So this week’s Sunday Spotlight is in honor of Grandpa again. ♥ I’m sharing some of those pictures of my recipes that you’ve made and posted on Facebook and Instagram. I feel truly honored each and every time you share your photos; it really means the world to me.
I can’t wait to see what you try next! ♥
Would you like to see your picture in my next Sunday Spotlight? Then share it with me on Instagram using #amyshealthybaking and tag @amyshealthybaking IN the photo itself. (That guarantees I’ll see your picture! ?) I can’t wait to see what recipes you make!
And if you’re interested in starting a blog too, I have a super easy step-by-step guide on how you can start your own blog here. It takes less than 30 minutes!
So sorry for your loss Amy, But what a lovely, thoughtful hospital to think and care for family as well as the patient, To be able to share stories with the family, while your Grandpa listened, In a relaxed atmosphere with coffee and biscuits, It makes a sad moment in life more bearable because you are sharing that time and making memories with those you love.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment, lana. It really means a lot to me. ??
